What to Expect
Laying the foundation
Chiropractic care is like building a house – certain things have to happen in a particular order in order for everything to stand strong and work correctly. When building a house, if you tried to put up your walls before you had a solid foundation, your walls would be weak and eventually collapse. If you tried to put on your roof before the walls were ready, you would run into the same problem. The same is true for your body. Your body has to go through a particular plan of care in order to repair itself correctly and fully. There are three general phases of chiropractic care that you can choose from, either Phase 1, Phase 2 or Phase 3 or all three. We will explain to you which would be best for your condition but you can choose which Phase you would most likely care to receive.
Phase 1: Relief Care
If you are in pain when you come into our office, the first objective is to help you feel better. Depending on the severity of your problem, it is typical to need care 3-5 times per week for a minimum of 2 weeks. When you first arrive you will be greeted by one of our staff and they will ask for your paperwork (you can complete this at the convenience of your home-under Online Forms) or you will be given the forms when arriving. The Doctor will then consult with you to determine if your problem can be helped with chiropractic care. If your condition can be helped with chiropractic care, the Doctor will inform you of his opinion and with your permission he will then proceed with an examination and x-rays will also be taken. The Doctor will discuss your x-ray findings with you and then proceed with administering an adjustment.
Phase 2: Corrective/Restorative Care
During the corrective care phase, muscles and other tissues are allowed to heal more completely, thereby helping prevent injury. It is typical to need care a minimum of 2 times per month for 6-12 months, depending on your overall health and the severity of your problem. The 2nd and 3rd Phase of Care are an option for patients who want to be rid of their problem once and for all. Our patients have the option of which level of care they would like whether it be just immediate relief or corrective care. "Practice by Value, Treatment by Choice"
Phase 3: Wellness Care
Once your body has fully healed, it is important to come in for periodic adjustments to avoid problems in the future. Usually, this only requires a quick visit to the chiropractor 1 time per month, based on your lifestyle and goals.
